What is a skills gap?

The skills gap is when there is a misalignment between the skills the workforce possesses and the skills required to perform jobs effectively. This skills gap can be assessed in two ways: first at an individual organizational level when there is a gap with current employee skills and the skills they require to perform their roles, second, at the workforce level when there is a lack of talent with the skills required to fill open roles.
