Applicant Tracking System

An applicant tracking system is a software application used by HR departments to enable the electronic handling of recruitment and hiring needs. ATS software is implemented and used by all business sizes and types and can be customized depending on the needs of the organization; free and open-source ATS software is also available.

Applicant tracking systems help companies organize candidates for hiring and recruitment purposes. These systems allow businesses to collect information, organize prospects based on experience and skill set, and filter applicants. Recruiters use an applicant tracking system to simplify the recruiting process by using automated intelligence to screen for the best, most qualified candidates.

While applicant tracking systems are excellent for storing candidate information, ATS systems can also track all communications with candidates enabling recruiters to search and filter resumes and other candidate information, decreasing time-to-fill and ensuring that companies get the best candidates for the position.
